How is Speek different?

There is nothing to download because Speek is browser-based and you can join from your computer or mobile device. There are no bridge numbers, PIN numbers, or passwords and nothing to prearrange. You will use a personalized link instead of a phone number.

How do I get started?

To get started, click on the “entering your name here” section and select a personalized URL you will use to share with your attendees. Then click “try it for free” and enter your name, email address, and password; only one person needs to initially do this for your entire conference call party, everyone else will just click the link you send out and be dialed into the call. You can also signup with your Facebook or Google+ credentials. And immediately, you are ready to set up a conference call.

You can use your link in email, texts, and calendar invites, so everyone will know where to go with one simply click. After clicking the link, they will enter their own phone number and Speek will conference them in. You can even text Speek your link name when you join the call so it will show up during conferencing.

Features of the conference calls

As soon as everyone has joined, Speek offers tools to help keep your conference call flowing smoothly. In the toolbar menu, you can see the connection quality, % the person is talking, and the ability to mute or remove them from the conference call. If you have left someone out of your initial conference call plans, you can instantly add them to the call. Once your call is up and running, you will see the option to add someone on the top right; Speek will ask you for their phone number and dial them into the call.

You can see who is speaking at all times and sharing files is as simple as drag-and-drop (premium feature). From the dashboard, available on both free and premium accounts, you can see how many calls you have made, in addition to, the average calls made per week, the length of your calls, and the average number of attendees. You can also access your call history; cataloging what files were shared and things that were said, virtually eliminating the need for someone to minute the meetings.

How much does it cost?

Speek is available fore free, with unlimited conferencing for up to five people. If you need to conference more than five people, it is $10 per month. For $10 a month, you can record your calls and access the transcriptions, anytime, as well as, share files, and add unlimited attendees. As of today’s date, if you invite three friends to Speek, you get one month of premium access for free.

One thing to note, however, is that Speek cannot deal with extensions at this time, so if you are calling in from an office line, you will have to dial in manually via a toll-free number and PIN.
