The missing piece of Gmail
Plugin creators Baydin is in the 2011 class of 500 Startups and has already impressed us with The Email Game, and now, the above introduction to Boomerang has also blown us away, it is the missing piece of Gmail we’ve been looking for!
Boomerang is available on Firefox and Chrome browsers as a plugin and performs three essential tasks that any business professional using Gmail must use immediately:
- Scheduling – Boomerang adds a “send later” button to your emails so you can schedule emails to go out when you know the recipient will see or respond to it. If you have a client who is devoted to morning email, write that email at night as you are so inclined, and have Boomerang send it out for you in the morning- you don’t even have to be online for it to get sent.
- Set reminders – Boomerang operates on the idea that bringing email to the top of your Inbox serves as a form of a reminder. Many of us on staff at AGBeat use Gmail as our task list, are driven crazy by any emails in our inbox, thus all unread emails must be dealt with as soon as possible. When you tell Boomerang to push any email back to the top of your inbox, you’re instantly reminded to perform a task or respond; it’s an effective prompt.
- Follow up – our favorite feature prevents emails from slipping through the cracks. Have you sent an email only to realize a week later that no one responded? Boomerang returns email to the top of your inbox that hasn’t been responded to within the timeframe you set. Brilliant!
All reminders and scheduled emails can be edited before they go out and Boomerang is a super simple way to more effectively manage your emails, especially if you are inclined to use email as a form of a task list.
