Facebook users are officially hooked
Social media marketing is a critical element to any business in the tech-centered world that we live in. So much of the discussion surrounding social networks focuses on targeting and understanding the MAU (monthly active user). Many studies have been conducted to establish how the MAU engages with the various social media platform.
A new report from GlobalWebIndex (GWI), goes beyond the simple single metric to analyze social media engagement from numerous angles. One of the most important topics covered in GWI’s social media engagement report is how often networkers are using each platform.
Facebook emerges as the clear and easy winner for this metric, with half of its active users saying they access the service more than once a day, with an additional 25% stating they using it daily. Compare this with YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and Google+, where only 25-28% of users are engaging more than once a day.
Sure, this is good information, but what does it mean?
It means Facebook has become more successful than any other platform at marketing itself as an integral part of user’s online lives. This also means this is your best bet in regards to a platform for marketing yourself and your business. It is also a huge opportunity for marketing gurus and brands looking to connect with new users, or users that they have previously only engaged with on other platforms. For example, pick up Pinterest and Twitter followers that have been looking for your presence (or a more pronounced presence) on Facebook.
This could also be a sign that Facebook is a good place to invest a bit more in regards to your marketing budget because more people are seeing ads and engaging with the platform, allowing your message to reach the maximum amount of users with the least amount of expenditure.
Even if you have already established your presence on Facebook, you may want to take into consideration just how many people are using Facebook multiple times a day. This may mean posting more often, offering additional incentives, or both. Either way, Facebook seems to be the most popular social media platform, so make sure you are reaching your audience.
