Startups go head to head

The SXSW Accelerator showcases emerging new technology startups from around the world. This year’s SXSW Accelerator, takes place in Austin, at the Hilton Downtown, March 14th and 15th. SXSW started with 500 applicants ready to showcase their technology talents, which was quickly narrowed down to 48 finalists who will be showcased over the weekend at the Accelerator pitch event.

Of these finalists, three Austin-native companies have made it through to the final selection. Perhaps there’s a home field advantage in being from Austin, because it sure looks like these three companies know their stuff. They will present their innovations, products, and services during Round One of the event on Saturday, March 14 for the live audience and panel of judges.

After each company has their turn, the field of 48 will be narrowed down to the top 18 on March 15. The 18 finalists will pitch again to a new panel of judges. Here’s what these three Austin companies have to offer SXSW:

1. Hypori

Hypori is an enterprise software company providing Virtual Mobile Infrastructure (VMI) ensuring secure separation between personal and enterprise data for mobile users and is a finalist in the Enterprise and Smart Data Technologies category. “The adoption of BYOD has introduced significant risk and legal challenges for organizations trying to protect data while supporting users’ need for greater flexibility, convenience and collaboration,” said Justin Marston, CEO and co-founder of Hypori. They will demonstrate their virtual mobile device running in the cloud that shields enterprises from the risks of BYOD while providing a secure, flexible solution with a rich, responsive end-user experience. With a highly scalable infrastructure built on open source, the device supports multiple platforms and can seamlessly integrate with existing enterprise mobility management (EMM) technologies.

2. Peepsqueeze

A fun, new way to create and share videos, without the need for everyone to be in the same room. Combine your own video with your friends with the new app, Peepsqueeze. It’s as simple as filming yourself, then inviting friends to contribute to the video. They record their video once they receive an invitation and will combine them into one downloadable video. Finally, select a “release date” for the video and Peepsqueeze will send the friend-filled video to whomever you choose on the date of their event and surprise them. You also have the option to download the finished product so you can keep the memories forever.

3. RealSavvy

RealSavvy is a Pinterest-type platform for real estate. Consumers pin homes to boards they share to help organize their online home search and agents get a CRM built to simplify client collaboration. Like Pinterest, people add links to property listings (manually, or using a browser extension) across the web and collaborate with others on a collection of houses based on an area, location, or other identifying details. It is also unique, in that, it retains the basic information about a property listed on Zillow, even after the home is taken off the market and the listing disappears. This allows users to compare features and prices, even if their favorite home disappears.
