Keeping all of your contacts straight
Remember the good old days when you would have an address book with the landline number of every Tom, Beth, and Jerry in the neighborhood? With cellphones, e-mail, and social media, keeping everyone’s contacts straight has, ironically, become more challenging.
Now that everyone has a work phone and e-mail and a personal phone and e-mail, it can be difficult to condense all of your contacts’ information in one, neat place. However with the app, Brewster, it is possible to have it all.
Sync everything in one place
The platform for the app is simple – “Never lose touch”. The idea is that you can download the app on your phone or tablet, and sync all of your contacts into one, convenient location. Brewster works with Facebook, Google, Twitter, and LinkedIn, among others, to pool together everyone you know in order to neatly package all of your contacts in one app.
I thought the app sounded like an interesting idea and wanted to see how it worked. Basically, what I had to do was download it, sync it with my Facebook app, and then select the other apps that I wanted it to cohabitate with. I only selected a few outside apps and wound up with almost 700 contacts.
Scrolling through them was like taking a trip down memory lane because, not only did it include all of my Facebook friends, but it also had the information of almost every person that I have ever e-mailed.
Super helpful, but there is a hiccup
The part I found strange is that the contacts come up in no particular order. There is a search option but it seems as though it would be more user-friendly if it were alphabetical.
However the app can be very beneficial to those who are flooded with contacts but have no good way of organizing them. Some contact profiles have more information than others because it pulls whatever they have provided on Facebook. The more detailed profiles offer phone numbers, e-mail addresses, birthdates, locations, education and work history, as well as links to their social media profiles.
The downside is, as previously stated, it pulls the information from, seemingly, every person you have contacted through e-mail. I have personally had a lot of one-time e-mail conversations with customer service representatives for various companies; and those profiles being on my Brewster account may not be necessary for the future.
Brewster is free and available in the iTunes store, and also offers visual caller-ID and a variety of messaging apps.
