TweetDeck launched customized timelines
TweetDeck has just introduced fancy new customized timelines for tweets, but what exactly are these timelines? They aim to give you more control over how your Tweets are organized. You can customize which Tweets you want to include in a personalized feed; you can do this manually or by using API. Each timeline is public and has its own page on Twitter, allowing you to share it with others, as you continually update with favorite Tweets.
If you are ready to try timelines with TweetDeck, you can create a new timeline by adding a new column. To do this simply click on the “+” icon in the sidebar and then click “custom timeline.” And then you can simply drag Tweets into the timeline. Once you have created a custom timeline, your Tweets will have a “” icon. This will make it easier to drag it onto your custom timelines columns.
If you decide you no longer need this a Tweet in your feed, simply click the “X” on an individual Tweet and it will be deleted. You can also add a Tweet to a custom timeline by choosing the “Add to custom timeline” option in the “More Actions” menu. This can also be triggered by the keyboard shortcut “C.” Simply select the custom timeline(s) to which you would like to add the Tweet.
Various options available
When you have your timeline setup, you can choose to share it. This can be done directly from the menu in column options. You will see three options: “embed timeline,” “view on twitter.com.” and “tweet about timeline.” The first option will generate an embedded custom timeline widget, so it can easily be embedded in your website.
The second option lets you view the twitter.com page for your custom timeline and share it however you want. And finally, you can easily create a new Tweet that contains a link to your custom timeline, allowing your entire Twitter audience to see it. This can also be accessed through your Twitter profile cards in TweetDeck.
While these new features may seem like a lot to handle, once you get your first timeline column set, I think you will enjoy being able to create a custom feed of Tweets that interest you. You can create different timelines for different subjects as well. For example, you could create one timeline for potential customers or reviewers, another for your competition, allowing you to keep your Tweets organized and easily accessible. And with as many Tweets as there are to sort through in a day, this could become your new favorite tool.
