Mention helps you monitor the web
Mention is one of the best, and often underrated tools to monitor any keyword across multiple platforms and receive real-time, filtered, organized data. It is a good alternative to Google Alerts because it offers more features and gives better results.
Why is Mention better? Mention gives you far more results than Google Alerts. With Google you may get several results per week, but with Mention, you are getting multiple results daily. Mention’s business is focused solely on finding your brand or your name, so they can devote time and money to finding all available mentions. Whereas Google Alerts is a free service and obviously devotes its time to other areas as well.
Mention digs through the social
Also, Mention gives you social results. In my experience, Google Alerts never effectively found any mentions on platforms like Facebook and Twitter. And this is important with more and more focus being placed on social media marketing. With Mention, you will be able to see your mentions from social platforms as well as a small snippet about what was said. It monitors millions of sources in forty two languages to make sure you know when you are being talked about on social networks, news sites, forums, blogs, or any web page.
Digital content consultant, Amy Vernon states, “The best tracker I’ve found for web mentions is Mention.net, hands down. I get notifications nearly every day, and though some are off-target, the vast majority of them are exactly what I’m looking for. The wide variety of sources is terrific. I use it to track myself and have found many mentions that would have completely escaped my attention otherwise.”
Finding mentions you may have missed can save you money and help you find new leads, which in turn can boost your business.
Easy to view and actually use
Mention also gives you an Outlook-like format, so that all your mentions are easy to see, track, and come back to at a later time. You can be alerted in real-time with push notifications, available on your phone, and in the Outlook-like web version. You can also receive a daily or weekly email summary of your mentions. It also gives you reporting, something brands will find especially useful. You can see and track surges in mentions, as well as where the most useful mentions are coming from. Also, you can generate PDF reports and export data in CSV to share with teammates or compare yourself against your competition.
You can get Mention through the web app, Chrome app, or iPhone and Android apps. There is a free tier, but for more features, pricing varies.

Hi,
I’ve built a new app called Neuoogle that provides all of the functionality of Google Alerts, but operates as a single app. No more flipping between browsers, mail clients, RSS readers and back to browsers. Everything is under the control of Neuoogle; A much simplified workflow.
We also improve on Google, in that we can filter by site, region or both, reducing the number of false positives presented via Google Alerts. Lastly, our notifications tell you exactly which of your searches has resulted in a new hit. You can decide immediatley how to react whiteout having get sidetracked opening email clients.
Neuoogle is free and available in all iPhone App Stores. An android version is coming early in the new year.
