HootSuite’s next big move
This morning, any HootSuite user that logs in to their dashboard will be greeted with the news that the new “Conversations” tool has landed, which the company is dubbing “The internal communication tool,” offering a way for your entire team to communicate, share, like, update, and collaborate, even non-HootSuite users.
HootSuite conversations is currently in free beta, and boasts that all communication is real-time, and completely private.
Features, according to the company include:
- Simplify Communication: Converse with anyone you work with, collaborate with, and share messaging with, easily and intuitively within the HootSuite dashboard.
- Internal Conversations – External Engagement: Send social messages to internal conversations for teams to discuss and redistribute across multiple social networks.
- Collaborate with Everyone: Easily add anyone to discuss social messages and receive approved messaging. Communicate with your team, department or entire organization, without leaving the HootSuite dashboard.
Obviously HootSuite Conversations is a free and useful tool for teams, whether they are feet away or hundreds or thousands of miles away. Email is still a relevant and highly valuable form of communication, but it remains quite limited – be honest, how many times have you wanted nothing more than to just “LIKE” an email in acknolwedgement and move on?
More than a team tool, we see this as useful for other organization means, for example, organizing a group of volunteers or event hosts in a way that allows brevity in communication, but the added benefit of being able to share content directly from the dashboard, saving everyone multiple steps.
There is no word as to whether this tool will remain free, but we hope that it does, just in case we all get addicted to it. But if it does become a premium feature, it could later bolster the number of paid users that become reliant on the tool.
