Realtors, is Posterous more enticing with new notification features?
Posterous tells you to start your (marketing) engines
Free blogging platform, Posterous.com started out as a simple alternative to the junky, cluttered blog platforms offered on the market. Although we typically advise owning your own web property, Posterous is a good alternative for people looking to get started that don’t want to be overwhelmed with options. The user interface is streamlined and very aesthetically pleasing- no clip art here.
Now, Posterous is offering a new feature- email marketing. You heard that right, email marketing. In the past, users have been able to syndicate their content to Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and others but there was no way to reach consumers who prefer to be notified via email. Until today.
Enter Posterous’ “Instant Notification” which emails your subscribers as soon as you post new content. We imagine this could be extremely useful if you’re blogging hyperlocally and a new home is on the market or prices drop 300% or something extremely timely that would make your phones ring if a consumer saw it in their email inbox (reason 8,329,239,111 that blogging about the local fair or how to garden is a time waster).
Email newsletter with no extra effort
Simply by blogging, you can create an email newsletter. Posterous offers instructions on setting up your email subscribers, and above the universal RSS button, all Posterous sites now say “Subscribe by email – get the latest updates in your email box automatically.”
But remember, if you’re logged in, you won’t see it the same as your readers, you and other Posterous users will see “Follow this site” followed by this option:
So Posterous users, how will you use the new email notification option? Will you rethink your Posterous content, promote it more heavily on your website, or even start a separate Posterous for hyperlocal market information and the like?
