Scary Numbers

September is Hunger Action Month and in response, the Social Media Club of Austin will be pooling talents to help the Capital Area Foodbank with the “First Annual HAM-Up Tweet-Up.” Most Tweet Ups consist of groups of Twitter users that meet in person to network and have fun and the Austin group continues to come together for the good of our community (while we network and have fun). Each week 40,000 people in Austin rely on the Food Bank- an astonishingly high number.

This is where you come in- Tyson has agreed to donate ONE HUNDRED POUNDS OF FOOD per every single comment left on the Tyson site by clicking here. Please take 10 seconds to leave a comment, even if it’s just the word “wow” or “thanks.” EASY!

As a sidenote, we want to encourage you to use your social media powers for good- if you are part of a social media group, make your networking events once a month center around non-profits… Austin had a record breaking blood drive recently and plans on helping the Capital Area Food Bank to the best of our abilities!

  1. Kathy McGraw says:

I like this idea…so here is my comment to help top hunger at least for a day :)

  2. Kathy, I just changed the wording of the article above, I wasn’t originally very clear that comments on the Tyson article allowed them to donate food to the Food Bank (although I *wish* we had the means to donate 100 lbs per comment here!). Sorry about that- I hope you’ll find your way over to Tyson by clicking the blue link in the article.

    Thanks Kathy!!!

  3. Vlad says:

That is wonderful idea Lani. I will try to spread some word around.

  4. Jay Thompson says:

They filled up the 35K pound food truck in less than 6 hours!
