Google Goggles for Real Estate- Rock Your Marketing- Offline?
Google Goggles and Real Estate Advertising
Scratching the surface of the use of this tool would be scanning a business card- how boring (yet so very cool). What we’re thinking about is doing away with that real estate flyer and opting for a more robust and dynamic flyer that is complete with contact information, current pricing and maybe more listings in the neighborhood as well as links to your neighborhood blog by simply snapping a picture! Yes, I said by taking a picture, read this if you missed it! Google Goggles for Real Estate I
Crazy insane is Google Goggles, as it is a tangible way for consumers to get up to the minute property data, but even more importantly, an even better way to preview property listings that are from other brokers. Say you’re in the car touring property, and a client asks about a sign not belonging to you, simply snap a photo of the property, or even the yard sign and view the agent and property details instantly providing you with a warm on the fly opportunity to present a property the buyers are interested in.
Finally, the marketing of property is expanding beyond search into a new realm, but even more exciting is expanding your marketing beyond the realm of search. Imagine a client driving by your bus bench (I know, lame, but now made cool by Goggles) who snaps a photo and instantly obtaining your contact details along with everything you want them to know about you is now right there at their fingertips. The same principle applies to billboards or anywhere else you’ve plastered your logo (or face).
The post cards you’re mailing are no longer useless to consumers in the sense that they throw away things they don’t want to store, they can now snap a photo and register your data right there in their phone, and the same could apply to a photo snapped of the front page of your website- hey, it’s you on the go!
Things are changing rapidly in search, but it’s exciting to imagine a world where your marketing dollars have a fighting chance, even in the offline world. Watch this Goggles video and share your ideas!

Great post, I know I have to stay a head of the curve with these awesome new tools. AG you guys are the best!! I’m gonna have to post a GOGGLE logo on my sign riders. Will they have the reverse technology so we can see who goggled us? like the Text-In sign riders. Gotta capture those leads right?
My head is spinning and my grin is splitting my face in two. Seriously. What an amazing future…the question is – will I be part of it?
Thanks for sharing. It’s the sharing of knowledge and information and what we do with it that makes all the difference.
Thanks Benn.
PS. Have you seen the new iPhone app (free for now) – Dragon Diction. Just talk. It transcribes and then you can sent to eMail, Posterous, text, facebook, Twitter, etc. WTH. Life is good.
Exciting! I saw this being demonstrated on a television program about Google. If you let your mind wander a bit you can see many applications for a technology like this.
Goggles are far from the only “Augmented Reality” project/format in the works right now, but I would suggest it’s the most important. The standards Google creates tend to become ubiquitous later on, and it’s a safe bet that other players in AR are looking to the big G for some “Best Practices” guidelines.
Any realtor who gets it right on Google Goggles will probably be making their information accessable through dozens of competitor systems, too.
We certainly agree, this just happens to be the most productive and it’s bar to entry looks to be nominal which is what I respect the most. Most AR projects used to date as models are useless.
Wow-an impressive upgrade to mobile search, and Google made another giant leap with Real Time Search released yesterday. Too bad Goggles is Droid only, can anyone say Bing, you’re up?
Droid only for now, this is a Google product, and unless they’ve decided to become exclusive with this one and only product, I doubt it will be only android for long, and so what if it is, augmented reality will diversify this type of online to offline marketing as it grows in popularity. What’s exciting about Google’s product is the cost barrier is so low, because what it does is just so simple.
Very cool stuff!
Are you sure it is available for Droid or just the Android? I’ve looked in the marketplace on a Droid and can’t seem to find the app.
sorry, android, my bad.
Got me all hyped up . . . darn!

Do you think that Google will integrate a Goggles Real Estate Search with a platform like Intelius or frankly just everything they already know about us? In this scenario, someone driving by a house could take a photo, search the house, and end up with name, phone number, relatives, income, age, mortgage history etc of the owner? (Plus of course everything a google search would normally yield on that person or house.) While I know my comment has a whiff of Big Brother paranoia (though I love Google products), I don’t see what could stop that from happening.
Kristin, it’s okay to be a little paranoid, we’ve been talking about this subject for a while now. The FTC is hosting a conference on this very subject- here’s the article from this am http://agentgenius.com/real-estate-technology-new-media/questions-over-privacy-social-media-ftc-all-over-it-with-maybes/

Wow I’m all over it. Amazing, amazing and more amazing every time I hear something about Google. I’m on board.
I totally agree with the paranoia but at this time in history they already have everything and then some on each and every one of us. What’s to stop them now. I think it’s too late to worry about it. I’ve lived with only a debit card for 10 years. I’m sure they have my life pattern figured out and probably know exactly where I’m going before I do. Sad.
Thanks Ken Brand for the iPhone App tip. I’m downloading as I type this.
Ben-Think you could do a follow-up to this in a few months to see how far it has come?
absolutely, in fact, since mapping, this is probably the coolest, most useful tool Ive seen – it wont take a month on this one!
Great! Just finished uploading it to my android.
jealous!
So I’m confused. I was reading their site and it doesn’t come out and say it doesn’t work on the iPhone but I didn’t see were it says it does? Can someone shorten my torture and tell this wannabegeek? I truly do not understand all of their android talk. I just want to use it. This may be better than crack?
I am in love with this. Fabulous, amazing potential….

Jealous as well- the Android was way cool before this…Google is on a tear, what’s next?
I saw this in action recently with Amy’s husbands new phone. He has a special google phone not yet released and it works great.
I wonder how long it will be before Trulia, Zillow et all ADD Google Goggles to their portals?
