Create your own font with your own handwriting in two minutes

header Create your own font with your own handwriting in two minutesA part of the real estate industry that is time tested is the handwritten note, but many people never end up writing those notes of gratitude that they intended to either because they’re busy prospecting, have horrible handwriting or have moved to a completely digital life.

In steps PilotHandwriting.com which allows you to print a piece of paper, write out the alphabet in your handwriting (or your assistant’s or wife’s if you have horrific child handwriting), take a picture with your webcam, digital camera or scanner, and upload to PilotHandwriting. In two minutes, you have created a font with your own handwriting!

In the video demonstration at the end of this post, you’ll see how simple it is and that the service allows you to save more than one handwriting which is good for OCD people like me who like cursive for some occasions and all caps for others.

The only problem that I have with the service is that it wants to send emails from their server which means each note ends with a picture of a big pen and directs other people to use the service. I don’t like ads in emails I send to people. My workaround? I intend on uploading my font, creating the letter, previewing it, and instead of hitting send taking a screenshot and embedding in an email (rather than a separate attachment).

There are several ways to do this and there are even services like Fontifier that lets you create a handwriting font with a scanner, then buy it for $9 and own it forever with no ads.

Wow! That’s pretty cool. But, I think it makes me want to keep checks under even tighter security. It is sort of an automated forging system.

  2. Mmm. The beauty of email is that it’s legible and I can control the font and size of emails I receive. Another plus is that the entire email is indexed; i.e. you can find on any part of it.

Actual handwritten notes have the benefit of conveying a personal touch because, in part, there was real, actual touching involved. I might suggest someone practice their handwriting over this kinda gimmicky approach.

I know I’m being a smart aleck, but this reminds me a little of the old saying “sincerity: when you can fake that…”

  3. Very cool tool! Great for “yellow letters” and speed writing personal notes. Al Lorenz (@ChelanRealtor) raises and excellent point about security, though . . . I think I’d still use it.

  4. Pretty cool feature. I’ve seen other online font generators but their actual application for real estate agents is quite limited as far as I am concerned. I believe they are better off with doctors! I also go with Al Lorenz, it does present a couple of security issues…Great post anyway. Thanks for sharing.

Well, I just signed up, created a font, but the system won’t let me log in. I got a welcome email that includes my log in info, but again, the system doesn’t recognize me. I wonder if it has anything to do with it being after hours in Spain? : )
