You really think lock boxes are for “lazy” agents??? OMG! Are you freakin serious. Who the heck would wanna run around town opening up doors all week for other agents with “their” buyers?
@fred Wait for next week’s video! I’m sure you will love it
I would have to agree with Fred on this one but I will keep an open mind and see what you have to say in next weeks video.
Ian,
I have felt that I liked you from what you are trying to do, but making the blanket statement that “lock boxes are for lazy agents” is ludicrous. There is no way possible for you to make it to every one of your listings to open the door for every buyer that any other agent has at a time convenient to that buyer. If you are not making the property available to the buyers out there on their timeline, then you will be doing your seller a great in justice. If you wish to use a sales ploy to better position yourself, then do so in your listing presentation, but don’t prophesize something that in many cases can potentially damage a seller. I am really disappointed with what you have said here and doubt that you will have anything to say that will change my mind. I will still take the time to watch as I consider myself to be open-minded.
Thank you Ian, great initiative! Looking forward to your next video-post.
Although I don’t have any lock boxes I can see a use for them. I would agree that it is better to show property in person. If your schedule is full I think it would be better to have a property shown than not at all.
I think the lock box may lead to not showing the property in person at all and this isn’t the best practice… which is the point Ian is making.
Side note: I’ve seen some really inexpensive lock boxes at Home Depot appx. $40. (Sorry Ian)
Hey Everyone,
First off, like Ian said – you an agree or disagre with his statements. But you have to respect two things about Ian. 1. Vlogging from your car – genius. 2. He is trying get more people to respect our industry. While I use lock boxes not to make my job easier. But with Social Networking, Designing Advertising, Catering to my buyers sellers, managing websites/blogs, etc. There isn’t enough time in a day. The invention of the lockbox allows me to spend my time more wisely else where. If I had a whole bunch of time in my day. I would consider not using a lock box to monitor potiential buyers in my clients homes.
Thanks For Contributing To AgentGenius Ian! Look forward to watching more of your videos on here.
Ian, I appreciate your enthusiasm and I agree there are bad apples that certainly ruin it for the good people in our profession. I think it is true for all professions. The lockbox thing, I think it is a teaser for next week, it worked I will be back.
