  1. $100,000,000. Hmmmmm.

I would probably be doing things differently and doing different things. Real Estate would be part of it but not “all of it” as it is right now.

Why aren’t I doing all that stuff now? Easy. I don’t have $100,000,000.

    ‘nuf said.

  2. If I had $100M I would not be working as a real estate agent.

I would have a charitable foundation as there are many things I would love to do for my community where funds are lacking.

I’m not doing them now because I don’t have $100M.

  3. Will says:

As an agent? Nope. No way. I’d be developing. That’s always been the goal. I’ve always promised myself that if I did win one of those big jackpots I’d start a foundation to build affordable homes/treatment centres for the DTES and truly green/sustainable/people friendly neighbourhoods.

How ’bout you Ian? What would you be doing?

  4. Jessica Murr says:

I would definitely be in Real Estate. I would be advertising more and targeting different clients than I am targeting now. I would be starting new companies in my region (which is suffering from a 20+ year economic recession)to offer more employment positions, I would be donating (silently) to other organizations that support small business and entrepreneurs and the Economic Development Counsel.

  5. Loren Nason says:

I’ve never been an Agent, but if I had 100mil I would still be helping people with tech. I wouldn’t be doing it as much, but I enjoy helping people use tech.

BTW… anyone ever say you remind them of Gary V

I totally sound like Gary V. The energy and all that.

  6. Dawn Smith says:

I would still be an agent but I would hire someone to do all the tedious jobs ……. paperwork and stuff like that! I love the part of this job where I get to meet new people. I sell real estate in the mountains so many of my Buyers are buying a vacation home and in that process I have built great friends…… no even with a million dollars I would still sell mountain properties

Ian, I remember answering this question years ago when I first started blogging. It was interesting to read all the comments and they fell into age groups. The older you were, the closer to retirement agents said No they would not be working in RE.

My answer is No, I would be doing volunteer work with non-profits, political organizations, traveling and teaching.

  8. There are so many things I would like to do I wouldn’t know where to start. I know I would be doing more volunteer work and I would be spending more time taking photos. I have a vision for a project involving cameras, inner school high school students and blogging. I would like to teach people who are like me how to write and enjoy it. I would get them started by teaching them how to communicate through photography and then how to share their ideas in pictures and words. How to think and imagine.

  9. Chuck G says:

Is that $100M USD or Canadian, Ian? :)

  10. Molly says:

I would START selling real estate. Because I wouldn’t have to worry about the commission or surviving and I would be able to help people get into homes.

    Yeah, Idealist, that is me.
(and why I just do the techie stuff)

Great question and I am really enjoying the answers!

  11. For me, the question is quite simple. No I wouldn’t be in this business. I’d be the Foundation Director for God’s Littlest Angels Orphanage in Petionville Haiti and spend my time raising awareness and raising funds for the children in Haiti. (Check them out at www.glahaiti.org). Why am I not doing that now? I’m on the board for them, but doing it full time would require a degree of financial independence that I don’t have right now.

Oh, did I mention they don’t have a foundation yet? Well, one of my goals would be to start one. There are too many needy kids in Haiti to not be involved.

    Tom
