Tools for the Uncreative

The problem with many presentation creators is that you have to have creative bones to work from scratch. This problem is solved by a free but unconventional way to create a presentation… Scrapblog! I would suggest this more for fun than professional polish- for a move-in presentation for clients to share with their family, for a recap of a neighborhood event or a local restaurant (because it says Scrapblog all over it, it’s less professional).

It doesn’t compare to something like Real Estate Shows because although you can embed music, video, photos and more, it does not have a metrics system (you can’t tell how many people have seen it, where they’ve gone to), nor does it offer any syndication, but it DOES solve the “I’m not creative” problem. It offers hundreds of backgrounds, stickers, shapes, great photo editing tools and more. Go play with it and in the comments, link to what YOU come up with!

Hint: if you want to use ScrapBlog as a photo tool but not a presentation tool (as I did for this image), don’t forget your screenshot tools!

  1. I’ve seen some bloggers use RockYou to put together a slideshow recap of an event that they did or a tweetup… This seems like a nicer, cleaner alternative. Anyway, I’m game…I’ll give it a shot.

  2. Tim says:

    Lani,
As always, thanks for the great ideas and options you provide to all of us! Keep up the great work.

Lani, that’s pretty cool. I have a powerpoint type program in Open Office that is just so bare bones that it’s practically worthless to me. While I do consider myself creative, it’s too much of a learning curve. this looks like a very useful tool!

  4. Bill Lublin says:

Wow – what a load of backgrounds and options – at a very affordable price!
If its free its for me!
Thanks again to the Queen of New Media

  5. Ricardo, I like using the “stickers” and “backgrounds” and doing a screenshot and transporting them to PowerPoint.

Tim, I love sharing tools, especially the free options. Don’t get me wrong, I use paid features (like RES) but love uncovering freebies.

Karen, I run Open Office too but when using in conjunction with presentation tools, all I need it to do is allow me to paste images in, I’ve already edited the page elsewhere.

Bill, how’d I know that FREE would call to you? :) Also: I’ll take your continued compliments of royalty while I’m at it.

  6. @Lani: I was just going to stop by and thank you for that little tip… :-) Don’t forget to start with the ‘browsing function” for quicker reference.

  7. The “hint” is the best part of this post :)

    Thank you!
