Trulia launches real time detailed local data, hires new VP

Trulia Local released

Today, real estate search site Trulia is announcing the final destination of several projects coming together, like hourly crime reporting in the form of Trulia Local which is a “layered map” that provides a visual representation of a county, a city, a neighborhood and even down to a block-by-block view of an area to answer the “what is it like to live here?” question.

The company says that Trulia Local visually blends geodata with user-generated content so that “within the defined area you can look at real time crime, school rankings, local amenities and homes for sale and homes recently sold.”

With the infusion of their late 2010 acquisition of technology and talent of Movity, known for superior heat mapping technologies, Trulia tells AGBeat that no one else is “displaying this range of local data across the US from schools, crime, amenities and more all in one place. This is very unique to Trulia and that is because of our amazing engineering team.”

Trulia’s new VP hire

Brought on to develop more local, social and mobile tools, Lee Clancy joins Trulia as the new Vice President of Consumer Products, with over ten years under his belt of product management and consumer web experience. Trulia notes that Clancy “brings a proven track record in driving product development and increasing revenues at both established companies like Yahoo! and innovative startups such as IMVU.”

The company tells AGBeat that Clancy is an Amherst graduate with an MBA from Cornell and a MA in International Relations from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. “Prior to working at Trulia, Lee served as Senior VP of Product Management and GM of Direct Revenue at social game and entertainment site, IMVU. During his time at IMVU, the company doubled its active user base, attained profitability, and increased revenue fivefold to more than $50 million in 2011. He also has extensive product management experience with Yahoo! where he led Yahoo! Personals and Yahoo! Groups products. Lee rounds out his diverse experience as co-founder of a music-focused social networking startup and advisor to corporate strategy consulting group, PricewaterhouseCoopers.”
