Using technology to save money
In southern Florida and Michigan, real estate trainer Floyd Wickman is using a two-way video system which the company says has proven to be as effective as in-person training. Wickman has been in the industry for over 30 years, and Bob Chartuk, Marketing Director of Floyd Wickman Associates says that the class in the pilot program “is beating the program average of 1.07 transactions and 2.37 referral leads per student per week.”
Video training has long held the potential to drive down costs of well known trainers and speakers, as most third party training programs involve flying an instructor out, lodging, food, speaker fees, training fees and the like, but with two-way video training, costs are cut considerably. As brokerages cut back on spending, education may still remain relevant when implementing tech tools like video. The Floyd Wickman Program is six weeks long and the company says they have cut training costs for brokerages, and we imagine that Wickman can handle more brokerages as he may not be tethered to one city and one brokerage at a time. If the training was just pre-recorded video of a trainer, however, it is unlikely it would be as effective as two way video.
It is easy to see how other trainers will get in on using technologies to be in more places at once. It isn’t only business professionals choosing to work remotely, it looks like educators may take the same cost-cutting step, as performance does not suffer just because a trainer isn’t physically in the room.
