What I Learned at NARLANDO
Something I realized…
A few people have asked me what I learned at the NAR Convention this past weekend and after much thought, I realized that I went to the convention without the intention of learning.
I know, I know……pretty shallow
I program my brain to gain something from every experience and the goal of Narlando was to see my on-line friends, to have fun and to do some F2F interaction. That part was a success and was lucky that Rick decided to join me and people actually verified he is real.
But how could I walk away from The National Association of Realtors Convention without learning? That would make me brain dead, to say the least.
So here are 8 things I learned at NARLANDO:
- Twitter people – or Tweople are REAL!!! we met a few that introduced themselves with their Twitter name (Thank God or I wouldn’t have known who they were)
- It would be sooo easy to kidnap Social Media Gurus
- A couple of few pitchers of Mojitos can make white guys dance!
- Social Media applications can make people really anti-social
- Hilary Marsh, bka @hilarymarsh, from Realtor.org is a real, live human being (with a great sense of humor, I may add)
- put some creative real estate blogging minds together and they can plot some crazy ideas – like making @MrMiamism twitter….on Wednesdays!
- If you plug your vendor friends during a panel, like Real Estate Shows or Applied Real Estate Technology or even Altos Research ……you may get preferential treatment like an invitation to the Altos after after after party or a special Merengue dance.
- If you bug Teresa Boardman enough she may come back at you with a
Bite Me!

Ines – What a fun synopsis of NAR Orlando. Although I didn’t go, through video, blogs and pictures, I was able to learn a bit more about everyone who did go.
Thanks for Sharing Ines! I loved the mojitos so much while hangin with you all at Narlando, I made a pitcher of them for poker this past Friday night. I followed your instructions from your video on realestateshows.com to a tee.
They were so delicious, I forgot about the fact that you & Rick’s recipe is a LOT stronger than what you get at a bar…
Let’s just say that Saturday morning felt more like Wednesday.
Ines… I’m not sure you could call what we did dancing. Just for the record.
And Joel, I agree. The Mojitos I made on Friday were way stronger than the ones in Orlando. And much better, if I do say so myself. 
Paula – these events are more fun each time – I wonder if it’s me getting too comfortable or that everyone is just great.
@joelrunner – you, my friend, are one of the twits that I would have never known by your regular name – It was such a pleasure to meet you and look forward to many other get togethers and mojitos.
LOL @ Jeff – I have a feeling Kelley would agree with you with regards to the “so called dancing” – Funny how you guys are acquiring a palate for mojitos

You would publish a photo of me holding up an entire pitcher of mojitos, wouldn’t you? Revenge will not necessarily be swift, but it will be fun.
And the mojitos may not have been as strong as your homebrew, but they sure were good. What a fun time!
And finally, thanks again for taking part on the panel. I can tell from the feedback that the you’all (we should probably give *some* credit to Jim, Ginger and Teresa for helping out!) made a huge impact on many of the people in attendance!

Can’t believe we got mr.miamism to twitter on Wednesdays. Just to be clear, I saw those white boys “dancing” after mojitos. Mojitos make make them move, but the term dancing is being thrown around like anyone can do it. I think I have a broken shoe.
Hey Ginger – not only did you get @MrMiamism to twitter on Wednesdays but he’s even doing it from his crackberry! go figure! He said he’s getting a new one to be able to upload pics to Flicr – he thinks he has all the social media questions resolved!
We both have broken shoes….part of the “dancing equation”.
