Top 10 Ways to Use Blogging in Real Estate - Promote Your Team and Your Real Estate Business

Blogging can be a great facet to your business. (As we have all come to learn over the past few years …) One way that you can use blogging to your advantage is by using your blog to promote you and your business.

No, I’m not talking about screaming “I AM A REALTOR®!” at the top of your virtual lungs on every post.

I am talking about sharing your professional experiences with your audience … Passively sharing why YOU are a great agent and how YOU help the folks you work with.

(Of course, make sure you leave out personal details. Duh.)

Here are some great post ideas that can passively promote you and your business:

  • How you successfully helped a seller through a short sale.
  • How you helped a Seller client sell their home through effective staging.
  • How you successfully negotiated a great deal for your buyer clients.
  • How your business is structured to work with out of state Sellers.
  • How your business is structured to work with relocating Buyers.

Another way to promote you and your business in your blog is by posting testimonials. And I don’t mean just a page of praise, I mean … real life testimonials.

  • Write a post about your experience with a client. (BE NICE.)
  • Follow it with a testimonial FROM that client.
  • End it by promoting that client’s business or favorite charity.
  • Send a link to that post to your client (and watch them send that link to all of their friends … and drive people to your site…).

See? You too can promote yourself and your business with your blog without being a bad used car lot advertising campaign.

    Mariana,

Interesting post. I want to drive more people to my website and your suggestions are great. I am also doing what my blog site coaches are telling me and that is to read other blogs, comment to them, add your own URL address and this should create more traffic to your site. Lets see if this works. I hope you visit and if you do drop me a line…

@Jack – we must have the same SEO guy!

Great post Mariana, interesting how folks get to the same conclusions via different routes. Nice to have a concise list of things to do instead of a long, drawn out explanation.

Jack, Joe- if comments on other blogs are natural and not obnoxious, overly commercial or obviously done just for reciprocation (like saying, “great article, come read my blog”), that’s great.

What Mariana is saying is you don’t have to sell but you do have to add value in every interaction you have or you’re wasting your time. That includes when you comment elsewhere.

Mariana has a great list above and I would add:
    1. Writing about questions clients have asked you- if they ask, someone else is probably looking for the same answer.

    2. Write about your team. Not as in “Jim Bob has 12 years experience and went to ASU,” but as in, “Jim Bob just joined us from Arizona, so it’s fresh in his mind what it’s like to relocate. He’s ridiculously good at Texas Hold ‘Em, so don’t challenge him in a game (but he’s awful at Go Fish, trust me).” Keep it authentic.

    3. Some agents successfully find forum questions that are answered incorrectly by other agents and bring the question to their blog and answer it properly. This presents the agent as the expert (but be SURE you are right and don’t be rude to those who are wrong, just clarify).

Readers- what else could you add for agents who are new to blogging?

  4. Good idea. I will create a blog for my real estate site and start blogging. Thanks for information.
