Daniel – are some other tips.
If you are traveling a long distance (coast to coast) arrive early the day before and connect with friends for a nice dinner.
Plan to leave the day after the conference ends – you can meet with folks you met and have a good exchange of information.

This will be my 3rd Inman conference (plus NAR Expo in Vegas), so I finally feel like I have a decent idea of what I’m doing.

Here’s my tips:
* Bring snacks. Sometimes the rooms/vendors have some, but not always. That’s the one downside I see to Inman is that there is so much overlap, I’ve frequently had to run from one topic to another.
* Don’t get upset if you can’t make it to ever presentation. Each time I have had to pick between two (or three) I really wanted to go to and I expect this one to be the same. If they scheduled it in such a way it was possible to make every presentation, we’d be there at least a week.
* As for the laptop, I bring mine, but I squeeze every ounce out of it’s ~8 hours of battery life. I also have a tablet, so that’s my preferred method of taking notes. It also has cell connectivity, so wifi isn’t a problem. If I didn’t have all that, I would definitely leave it in the room.
* Bring comfy shoes. Although this is nowhere near the size of the NAR Expo, you will walk circles and your poor feet will take a beating.

My biggest changes this time around?
* I’ll be bringing a slightly larger laptop bag to store my schwag in. You’ll get a lot and full hands suck.
* I’ll be bringing a very large water bottle so I don’t have to disrupt a panel because I’m uber-parched.
* I will not wear a suit. In fact, only one pair of slacks in case I need them for dinner afterwards somewhere (although between Zillow/Trulia/ActiveRain, most of the nights are filled with booze). Like Daniel said, dress comfortably. The vendors are there to impress, let them dress up
* I will eat breakfast. Lunch break is short or nonexistent, so it may be a long day before snacks.
* I’m not going to worry about vendors as much and panels more. If you have a specific need, sure, check the vendors out, but they are all online and probably already have stuff in your bag at registration. The real life conversations of people doing cool things is where we can all learn.

The only question I have left is, do I have room for my top hat?

Geeze Daniel – thanks for that. Going to one of these can be overwhelming. I usually want to go to ALL the sessions. There just isn’t enough time to do and see everthing! The links in the post are super valuable and will help me get my gameplan together. See you there.
