google perspective map view Google Perspective is Like Google Street View on CrackJust in case you’re not sick of hearing news from Google, there’s more and this time it has a clear cut implication in the real estate industry. Today, Google announced Google Perspective which is “a new type of mapping imagery” giving developers access (through the Google maps API) to high-res imagery taken from an aerial perspective that lets users tilt their view to see multiple angles of buildings and landscapes.

Google Perspective is currently only available in San Jose and San Diego, Google isn’t a slow moving machine so we anticipate that it will be in most major metropolitains soon. Google Perspective’s real estate “partners” include real estate brokerage Redfin and Trulia where you can now look at properties (in San Jose and San Diego) in a whole new way. As a creator of a Google real estate map, I welcome Google's new bird's-eye-view photos. This was the only important feature available on Bing that Google Maps was missing... until now. Of course, Google needs to expand the service to "everywhere", not just San Jose and San Diego. In my area, we're also eagerly awaiting Street View coverage. Get busy, Google.

It should be a tool used in every Agent's toolbelt! Link to it from every address, or reference in a listing. Your kids love it, that means the consumer will too!

This is an exciting new technology for the world of real estate. It looks like real estate sites like Trulia and Redfin are already using the new Google platform to show homes in the San Jose and San Diego areas. With major sites like those two already on the band wagon, it looks like Google has set the standard again for what consumers will expect when searching for a home. Rather than showy, posed photos of home; consumers will expect up-to-date fully rotatable views of property. In no time real estate sites will have to adapt to this new platform to provide the detailed views that consumers will come to expect.

It could be a very interesting tool. It is hard to get a good view of a house and the yards if you are only able to go by listing photos. By using this perspective you can get an idea of the layout of the house and yard in your head. This also helps to take a look at the neighborhood around the place since a great looking house can sit next to terrible rundown neighboring homes. -Tyler

At first glance, this seems similar to Bing's "Birds-eye" view, which is awesome. And better yet, already available in Charlottesville. :) Competition is a very good thing.
