dear ginny Good Things From REConnect SF Dear Ginny, WTH?

Dear Ginny WTH,

What did you learn at the REConnect conference last week?

Absent in Albuquerque

Dear Absent,

You missed a good show. The REConnect conference is about innovation, change and new ideas and I definitely got some new ideas. One of the quick sessions from the stage was tools and technologies you should know. I’ll give you a few that Brian Boero mentioned from the stage on Wednesday and add a few of my own.

  1. Animoto.com – is a web application that produces videos from user-selected photos and music. It analyzes the photos and music you provide and automatically generates a trailer like video. Use it to make a cool home listing presentation.
  2. Issuu.com – an online service that allows for realistic viewing of digitally uploaded material. You can take any print material and make a flip book online. Take all your marketing material and make it into a magazine.
  3. Viralheat.com – monitors all of your social media activity and mentions and tracks what people are saying about you. Great if you are an active blogger and writer for the web.
  4. Drop.io – an easy to use, online collaboration and file sharing service that provides users with a simple, real time and private way to chat and share images, video, audio, documents and other digital content through unique, user-created and controlled sharing points called “drops.”
  5. Jimdo – a really easy way to create a free website (think property websites) that integrates pictures, videos and texts in seconds. You can change the design with a click and add as many pages as you want.
  6. Feedmingle.com – makes life easier for bloggers who want to merge two or more RSS feeds into one. It mixes all the feeds and creates one and a widget for placing on your web site.
  7. Mailchimp.com – is an email management system that combines powerful tools like A/B testing and segmentation and makes them available to the public. MailChimp is an open API and easily integrates into sophisticated systems like Salesforce.
  8. Screentoaster.com – record screencasts, tutorials, demos, training, lectures and more with this cool auto mash machine. Once mashed you can embed into a blog, your website or send via email. All sorts of applications for real estate.
  9. Geochirp.com – helps you search for people Twittering for specific things in a specific area. For instance, if you want to search for people tweeting about golf properties in Arizona, you can select an area on the geochirp map and type in keyword golf. Instantly you’ll see the tweets and the tweeters.
  10. Usertesting.com – lets you “look over the shoulder” of people in your target audience while they use your website. California-based company helps anyone who is responsible for a website to improve their site through low-priced usability testing. Very smart.
  11. Smarteragent.com – search for real estate based on your location by turning your phone (and your client’s phone) into a location aware real estate finder. You set up a branded widget with Smarteragent.com and give the code to your clients for downloading on their phone. They search for properties with their smart phone, see a for sale home on their phone branded with your information and one touch to call you.
  12. NationalBLS.com – a buyer listing service that showcases ready buyers instead of for-sale properties. So real estate agents “list” their buyers on the site and have ready sellers and their agents make offers to the buyer. They call it a reverse offer; I call it another way to market and a unique selling proposition to buyers.
AgentGenius.com is not affiliated with any of the above companies.
Ginny Cain is affiliated professionally only with NationalBLS.com.

Thanks for being our eyes and ears Ginny!

Nice work Ginny. Sadly i was unable to attend the conference, but it looks like you gleaned info on the best and brightest. Thanks!!

Update on Animoto: I inquired as to whether they consider the marketing of listings "commercial use", and indeed they do. So FYI to RE agents out there that it would constituent a TOS violation unless upgraded to the business solution. Bummer.

Ken Brand...let me know when that is so I can wear my helmet.

Lot's of super cool stuff. I didn't take notes worth a crap and the ones I did, I can't read. So, thank you for documenting and sharing. It was nice saying hi, I regret that we didn't get a chance to chit-chat. Next time I bum into you, I might tackle you. Just so you know. Cheers.

Ginny - you're giving Lani a run for her money in the cool sites and gadgets category! Navy Chief, Navy Pride

Animoto has great potential for smart RE professionals. Funny, but my boss was just showing me this yesterday. A well-known broker (who didn't attend ICSF) was showing him and was super excited about it. I'd like to see some examples of its application to the RE space...post links here, perhaps?

Ginny - much thanks...find NationalBLS.com an interesting concept.
