Email IRL would be just horrible

Yes, the above parody is a commercial for SolarWinds, but come on, it’s pretty funny. Can you imagine the perpetual caps lock abuser or auto-correct guy standing in your office, literally interrupting your day?

Distraction expert, Curt Steinhorst writes, ” Studies reveal that we are interrupted every three minutes during work and it takes us 23 minutes on average to get back to the original task. The real kicker is that more than half of the distractions were completely self-inflicted.”

Leveraging technologies and habits to make technologies and habits more effective is critical to a productive work day, and imagining emails as people standing in your office isn’t far from accurate, really.

Per SolarWinds’ video description:
“All caps, missing attachments, auto-correct fails, the list goes on. The truth is, email is annoying enough, managing it shouldn’t have to be. With AppInsight for Microsoft Exchange in SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor, sysadmins and Exchange admins can quickly get email management under control with technology traditionally only available in expensive, specialized tools.”
